The Scandinavian Centre Thanks Everyone who Came to Cheer with Us!

Over 4,500 people visited Scandinavia House, regularly known as the Scandinavian Community Centre, took a tour, enjoyed a drink at the Fireside Lounge, had lunch or dinner, and watched one of the big screen TV’s. We hosted various royalty, ambassadors and political officials from Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden.

We are so proud of all our hundreds of olunteers who logged in over 2,000 hours. They took everything in stride working with the TV media, wearing Norwegian curling pants, press reporters from around the world, partying Vikings with horned helmets and various dignitaries, all with welcoming smiles, and cheerful information.

The Centre is Getting A Royal Treat!

Royal Treat

Sweden House Society is honoured to announce that as part of their royal visit to Vancouver during the 2010 Winter Games, the King and Queen of Sweden – Carl XVI Gustaf and Silvia Bernadotte – will be coming for a visit to the Scandinavian Community Centre!

On Thursday February 25th, King Carl XVI Gustaf and Silvia will be attending a special Cocktail Reception held in their honour. As part of their visit to the Centre, the Swedish School children will perform and the royal couple will be given a grand tour of the Centre facilities. We are so proud of how we keep the Swedish culture and traditions alive in Vancouver, we hope they will be as well!

For information on how to attend this once in a lifetime event, visit the Swedish Royal Reception event listing.
