Early Norwegians made many valuable contributions to the fabric of British Columbia. They worked in forestry and fishing; built some of the first old folks’ homes, schools and churches; influenced our social systems; set up businesses; entered politics; and more.

We will feature early Norwegians at work and at play … interesting, entertaining, historical … people and places to show life as it was for these early emigrants to B.C.

The Exhibit is sponsored by Norwegian House Society, the Scandinavian Cultural Society and the Danish Community Centre. The 100 framed photo panels will then be available for loan to museums throughout Canada and U.S.A.

Runeberg’s birthday

Canadian Friends of Finland will celebrate Runeberg’s birthday with a program of his poetry, music, excerpts from his writing and highlights from his life. The Runeberg Chorus and Sons of Norway will perform. Refreshments will be served including the famous Runebergin Torttu. It should be a fun afternoon!

Sponsored by Canadian Friends of Finland in Vancouver, Runeberg Chorus, and Runeberg Lodge 124.
