Sulky, Rowdy, Rude?: Why Kids really act out and what to do about it

Sulky, Rowdy, Rude? Why kids really act out and what to do about it

A lecture by psychologist Bo Hejlskov Elvén sponsored by SWEA Vancouver

Location:  Big hall at the Scandinavian Centre, 6540 Thomas Street, Burnaby BC

Day & Date: Saturday, Feb 17, 2018

Time:  9.30-11.30AM

Danish psychologist Bo Hejlskov Elvén is a well-known expert working with the so called Low Arousal Approach and has together with Swedish writer Tina Wiman written the book Sulky, Rowdy, Rude?: Why Kids really act out and what to do about it. Hejlskov’s personal and professional experience is that children with behavioural issues often have problems to regulate their emotions, and that the Low Arousal Approach makes them calmer and gives them self-control. The method creates trust and collaboration between children and parents, and builds a stronger relationship over time than traditional methods.

Children go through difficult phases and this is a natural part of growing up. Conflicts and arguments are nothing exceptional, but rather a part of everyday family life. There are however ways parents can create a consistent and effective structure, which will yield a better response in their children. Based on years of experience working with children, including those with special needs, Bo Hejlskov will describe how you can structure your parenting around the Low Arousal Approach. With many creative suggestions and real-life examples, this lecture by Bo Hejlskov Elvén has the potential to change family life for the better.

The presentation is open to the public and free to attend, but registration is required. Register by sending an email to lena@nullyoungerface.com. Seats are limited so make sure you sign up before-hand. A wait list will be organised if needed.
