Finnish Afternoon Film: Letters to Father Jacob

11 Apr

Canadian Friends of Finland Sunday Afternoon Films presents:

Letters to Father Jacob (Postia pappi Jaakobille)

Winner of the 2010 Annual Finnish Jussi Film Awards
for Best Film, Director, Actor and Music
and awards at three International Film Festivals in 2009

Letters to Father Jacob follows two wonderful, moving characters each on their own unusual path. The two paths cross when Leila, who has recently been pardoned from a life-sentence for murder, goes to work as a personal assistant for Father Jacob. Leila is only used to taking care of herself, and a job as an assistant to Father Jacob does not come easy. Two fully different worlds get mixed unexpectedly, and the roles of a helper and a person in need for help turn around.

Klaus Härö features wonderful performances by Heikki Nousiainen and Kaarina Hazard.
