Chewters Choco­lates — Wade Pugh, Part­ner & VP Man­u­fac­tur­ing

Wade Pugh is Man­ag­er Part­ner and VP Man­u­fac­tur­ing for Chewters Choco­lates. Chewters spe­cial­ize in one-shot deposit­ing and high-speed wrap­ping, includ­ing nut but­ter cups, bars, squares, filled choco­lates, bark bites and much more. Chewters 55,000 square foot facil­i­ty, locat­ed in Delta, BC, pro­duces many of the choco­late prod­ucts you see in your local stores and in the hos­pi­tal­i­ty indus­try.

If you’ve stayed at Las Vegas’s Bel­la­gio, Wynn or Cae­sars Palace hotels, or recent­ly cruised with Roy­al Caribbean or Celebri­ty cruise lines, chances are you’ve got more than a pass­ing acquain­tance with Wade Pugh and Chewters Choco­lates. Chewters makes pil­low choco­lates or “turn­downs” — those lit­tle com­pli­men­ta­ry treats left on hotel beds.

“There’s some­thing roman­tic about it when you’re cre­at­ing choco­late from scratch,” said Pugh, who is also a lead­ing sup­pli­er to the Cana­di­an hos­pi­tal­i­ty indus­try.

Found­ed in 1984, Chewters Choco­lates pur­chased Dynam­ic Choco­lates in 2015, com­bin­ing its choco­late exper­tise with Dynamic’s man­u­fac­tur­ing capa­bil­i­ties. Since 2015, under the lead­er­ship of CEO Richard Foley, Chewters has imple­ment­ed cap­i­tal improve­ments, train­ing pro­grams, new team mem­bers and new process­es result­ing in improve­ments in pro­duc­tiv­i­ty, qual­i­ty and effi­cien­cy.
