Swedish Cultural Society
The Swedish Cultural Society is a member organization of the Sweden House Society with the goal of keeping Swedish cultural experiences alive in the Lower Mainland.
- Preserves the traditional cultures of Sweden’s art, music and dance
- Promotes the understanding of Swedish communities and cultures in Canada
- Preserves the Swedish language among Canadians of Swedish descent

- The Swedish Christmas Fair — Traditional pre-Christmas “Julmarknad” held at the Scandinavian Centre, complete with glögg and all the Swedish baked goods, food and Christmas decorations
- Valborg celebrated at the end of April with a gigantic bonfire and songs
- The Swedish School which takes care of the young members of the SHS. Children ranging from age 3 to 13 meet once a week at the Scandinavian Centre for lessons in Swedish conducted by Swedish-trained teachers. The children also celebrate all the Swedish traditions and learn more about their heritage as part of the school program.
