A Very Scandinavian Evening: Swedish Artists Carl and Karin Larsson

LarssonDate: Friday, May 29, 2015
Time: Doors open at 6.30 pm; Sandwiches 7 pm; Talk 8 pm
Price: $5 per sandwich
Contact and RSVP:  swedishculturalsociety.ca@nullgmail.com

Carl Larsson’s illustrations for his book Ett Hem (A Home) more than a century ago defined a “Swedish Style” that was light, colourful, informal.  It seems obvious now that his wife Karin was intimately involved in creating the rooms Carl used as a stage for their family’s dramas.

“Swedish Style” with special reference to the contributions of Karin Larsson, an illustrated talk.

A piece of buttered rye bread with something laid on, with meat, fish, cheese and toppings.  It sounds simple enough but the Smørrebrød, the Danish open sandwich, is Danish everyday practise raised to one of the great contributions the world’s culinary arts.

“Danish Style”.  Smørrebrød godt belagt med meget pynt (Danish sandwiches well stacked and decorated) $5 per sandwich, bar service available.

In cooperation with the Sweden House Society and the Swedish Cultural Society
