The Scandinavian Midsummer Festival, in its 23rd year, attracts thousands of visitors. We are now looking for crafters who can offer us something special and exciting, be it traditional crafts with an innovative twist of something culturally relevant.

Course includes: 2 hours class, recipe and cookies to take home.

Marzipan figures
minimum 6, max 12 students.  Price $25/student
Course includes: 2 hours class and 150g of marzipan figures to take home.

SHS Scholarhips

There are currently two official scholarships of the Sweden House Society (SHS) and one by the SHS member organisation SWEA Vancouver:

  • The SHS Karl Ståhl Award. The purpose of this scholarship is to assist a British Columbia student with the cost of his/her post-secondary education. Value: $2,000 CDN. Deadline March 31, 2018.
  • The SHS Trade Award. The purpose of this scholarship is to assist a British Columbia apprentice with the cost of his/her apprenticeship in of the following industries: construction, transportation, mechanical or electrical. Value: $2,000 CDN. Deadline March 31, 2018.
  • The SWEA Vancouver-University of British Columbia Scholarship for undergraduate studies in Sweden. Find out more on SWEA Vancouver’s website. Value: $3,000 CDN. Deadline April 30th, 2018.

For all scholarships, applicants have to demonstrate and prove a strong interest in Sweden and the Swedish community in BC. Volunteering at the Scandinavian Centre or in any of the member organisations weigh heavily in the decision made by the scholarship committee.
